Job Summary:

The Project Associate is responsible for providing research and technical assistance to the Project Leader and Consultants under the Innovate UK-funded project titled "Rice Straw Biogas Hub (RSBH)"

Terms of Reference:

  1. Provide administrative and logistics support to the project
  2. Assist in the preparations for training, workshops, meetings and other related project activities
  3. Work closely with the project leader and consultants for the development of the policy recommendations for an enabling environment for rice straw management, and for the delivery of other project objectives
  4. Conduct research studies (i.e. literature review) in support to the development of the policy recommendations
  5. Perform fieldwork and other data gathering activities relevant to the project
  6. Facilitate communications with external stakeholders for meetings, workshops, training and other project activities in support of crafting enabling policies and governance
  7. Assist in packaging results and recommendations into journal articles and other publication materials for Enabling Environment work package
  8. Perform other requested tasks in relation to the success of the project and its implementing unit, the SEARCA Emerging Innovation for Growth Department (EIGD)

Educational background:

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Social Science, or other related fields.

Work experience:

Two (2) years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, research, or monitoring and evaluation, preferably in agriculture, rural development, or related sectors. Prior involvement in government or donor-funded development projects is an advantage.

Skills and competencies:

  1. Strong coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and meet tight deadlines.
  2. Proficiency in data encoding, management, and analysis, including experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata) or other relevant tools.
  3. Excellent research and analytical skills, including synthesizing information from various sources.
  4. Strong technical writing skills, with experience in report writing, editing, and layout.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
